Today ended up being a very unproductive day. I had no motivation to do any writing today. So, I didn’t do any. I will give myself the day. But I do not want to have any more days like this. Unless it was a planned day to do nothing, in which today definitely was not, it makes me feel like a failure. I wouldn’t necessarily say that I am indeed a failure. The last couple days were pretty busy, but fun ones, and Sundays have always been my chill day. So, I don’t know why I always make a huge list of things to do in my head on this day, because I pretty much always set myself up for failure. I should stop doing that to myself.

I can’t believe that June is almost over. This month has flown by. Pretty soon, I’ll be saying the same thing about summer. It ended being a pretty gorgeous day. They had forecasted rain, but it was a beautiful blue sky with a few clouds. A lot of wind. Had my first official swim in the lake today. It felt a bit chilly, but it really hasn’t been that warm yet overall. It was very peaceful to be floating and watch the clouds float on by. Thought it would get my creative juices floating, but I think it was just too serene.

Here’s to a new week…

It’s raining, It’s pouring

It’s been raining on and off, but mostly on now, for the last 8 hours. We don’t need rain right now, so it kind of really sucks. But I do find rainy weather is great for writing and getting my creative juices flowing. I’m not sure why that is, but I do love it.

I used to really love thunderstorms, but since my dog is so afraid of them, I hate when we get them.

At least it isn’t snow!

Another slow day at work

Another slow day at work….Gives me time to write.

And my current writing project has given me some new found excitement. Instead of it just being in one person the whole way through, I decided to add many more characters’ views (which seems to be the “in” thing right now, but that isn’t why I am doing it). For how I want to now structure it, I think a one person view would be too long, and maybe get a little boring??? So now, I have to put some more thought into it and do some outlining. For what I currently have written, I don’t even have a name for the character, or any descriptive matter about her. (Usually I have those things determined before I even start writing). And I was also thinking for each character, I can do different lengths of the stanzas of the poem. Mix it up a little bit.

If it all works out as I am now planning it, it will be 10 books long. Maybe they’d actually be more like novellas. I don’t know yet. We’ll see where and how this goes. I’ll keep you updated.

And now, it’s just another Wednesday

I am currently printing reminder cards out for work. We don’t have a computer (YES, I KNOW!!) at work. We are very low tech. At least we can now make copies at work, since I brought my old printer to work. Anywho, so I was at first making labels. I only had a few documents on the MacBook. So, I went to create a document with labels, and it didn’t have the borders, like it does on Works (I am using Word). And I couldn’t figure it out. Then I remembered that I had put all my documents on my laptop onto a flash drive. Great. So I put that in, and tried to open the document, but it couldn’t. WTF?!?! All the documents are .wps, but were locked or whatever. Oh, I hate technology. So, I did what any sane person would do, and just opened the damn laptop. Boom. Done. Maybe it’s time to load MS Office into my laptop, but I have been reluctant because it has been giving me signs of a huge crash coming. And I haven’t turned on my desktop in a very long time, I should do that. It will probably have to do Windows Updates for hours and hours.

It’s not my day for technology though, about an hour ago, I tossed my remote control on my bed and it landed on my iPad and cracked the screen. It isn’t terribly bad, and just one little crack is on the visible part of the screen, the rest of it is on the side and just over the white part. But boy dos that infuriate me. And makes me a little sad. Guess I’ll be shopping for a new iPad this Black Friday.

And right now, my printer ran out of black ink, AND IT DIDN’T TELL ME OR STOP PRINTING!!! What the hell???? It told me black ink was low when I went to print, but shouldn’t it have stopped printing when the ink ran out? My Epson always did. Stupid HP.

So what else is gonna happen? Oh wait, that was 3. I should be good. LOL

Well, at least I am done printing now.

Time for a little writing and “Murder, She Wrote: season 8”. Just started it the other day. I love Jessica Fletcher!!! It’s a great character. And Angela Lansbury rocks!

I decided on July 10th as my day to have the collection of poems sent for copyright. Not sure what day of the week that is. And I hope to have it done before then. But that is the deadline date.

Have a Great Night!!

Just another Tuesday

Not much going on here. Still beaming with excitement about the news yesterday on the Mitch Rapp series!!

Today was a slow afternoon at work, so I was able to work on some writing. Adding some things in where they need to be. And I noticed that in a few stanzas, I had not only past tense, but present going on as well. So, I had to make a few adjustments there, but it didn’t affect the flow or the rhyming. Having both tenses in the same stanzas strangely enough hadn’t disturbed the flow of the stanza in the poem, but it looked strange. I think I didn’t catch them until now because as I would say them, it sounded fine. Weird. I do have a few present tense stanzas, but I think I will keep those as “action” ones. It makes a nice flow. Not sure how acceptable it will be, but, I don’t care. It’s my poem, and I will do what I want to. LOL

Poetry Book Update: I am in the process of printing out all my poems, yet another time. About half way through on the ones I recently typed. I have to open and do them all at one time, so it is taking a little bit. Then, I think I will be re-typing the ones I had typed up many years ago, so I have the same font and flow as the other ones. I hope to then, get it sent off to the copyright office some time next week. (I should just pick a date that I must have that done by. Hmmm. What’s a good one?? I’ll decide by tomorrow’s blog!) Still undecided if I want to print out the form and mail the entire thing, or fill out the form online (and still mail it in). The latter is supposed to be faster and cheaper. I am too afraid of uploading the document when doing it online, because I haven’t done this process before. Then, I will work on formatting them for kindle/createspace. Have to work on a cover. Already have a preface written. Have been thinking up an afterword. Not sure if I will do a dedication, but do have a few acknowledgements (well 2) that I’d like to do.

Not sure if I will wait to upload until I receive the copyright first, or not. I think I’ve been pretty redundant on that fact. I just don’t know.

P.S. If I ever keep repeating myself on things, you will have to tell me 🙂 I’d hate to be a bore.

Mitch Rapp Lives On….

Attention all Vince Flynn fans: today we received a very special announcement, the Mitch Rapp series will continue on. Here’s the announcement in full from the Official Vince Flynn website, which can be found here:

Monday, June 23, 2014

The Vince Flynn Estate, along with Emily Bestler, Senior VP and Editor-in-Chief of Emily Bestler Books are excited to announce the decision to continue the Mitch Rapp series.

Bestler, who was Vince Flynn’s only editor throughout his entire career and whose imprint is a division of Simon & Schuster’s Atria Books, signed a three book deal with 47-year-old New York Times bestselling author Kyle Mills.

Mills was first published in 1997 and has penned 13 thrillers, most notably Fade and The Ares Decision.

Mills will complete The Survivor, the book Flynn was writing at the time of his death on June 19, 2013, and then write two additional Mitch Rapp novels. The Survivor is tentatively scheduled to release in the fall of 2015.

“I’m really honored to have been asked to continue the Mitch Rapp series,” Mills said, “Vince was a great guy who helped me out in my career and as a diehard Rapp fan, I know how devastated his readers are.  They’re big shoes to fill, but I’m looking forward to the challenge of continuing an iconic thriller character.”

“Vince and Mitch Rapp are so beloved by readers,” Bestler said, “It’s wonderful that we’ve found just the right partner to uphold the legacy of both.”

“To Vince’s wonderful fans, thank you for your love, support and patience, ” Vince’s widow, Lysa Flynn said, ” Vince was very proud of his team and we are confident that Kyle Mills will be a great addition. God bless and keep the faith!”

Pocket Books will be the paperback publisher of all three books, which will also be available from Simon & Schuster Audio and from Simon & Schuster UK in the UK, Australia, India and New Zealand.

Even though, honestly, I am still a little hesitant about the series being continued on without Vince (just because it won’t be his voice), it sounds like Kyle Mills has everyone’s blessings, and I welcome him with open arms. It sounds like he is a huge Rapp fan as well, so I know he won’t let us fans down. I am so excited!!!

I haven’t read any of Kyle Mills’ novels though, but will definitely be checking them out.

This has been a GREAT day with the BEST news!!!

My Greatest Inspirations

I watched the movie “Hitchcock” last night. If you are an Alfred Hitchcock and a “Psycho” fan, you should check it out. Anthony Hopkins did a terrific job playing Hitch.

So this got me to thinking about who are the people that CREATIVELY inspire me the most. So here’s a list of the ones that come to mind (I may add to this list later on after the subject has been brewing in my mind for awhile and then remember more people that should be on this list):

  • Buddy Holly
  • Vince Flynn
  • Rod Serling
  • Alfred Hitchcock
  • Edgar Allan Poe
  • Stephen King
  • Raven Quinn

And a few fictional characters as well (aka pretty much kick ass characters that I wish were real life people):

  • Jessica Fletcher
  • John Rambo
  • Mitch Rapp

First Day of Summer

Summer is officially here! Finally! It seemed to take forever to get here, and you know it will just fly by.

So, today marks the end of an era for me. It was my last working day at a grocery store, where I have been employed for 14 years. The company that owned us sold us to another chain. I decided not to re-apply (which was just a kick in our asses, complete with drug testing and background checks – in which after several owner changes at our company, none ever had us do) for my job. If I chose to, I would have to go back to working Saturday and Sunday in order to get the hours to get health insurance. I worked 7 days a week for over 10 years and decided that I didn’t want to do that again. I’d been working only Saturdays for about 3 years now (which makes it hard to ever ask for the day off because of only working 4 days a month). But on those weekends I had off, it really made it hard to go back the following week. When the news of the selling came out (of course we all found out on the news), I got nervous and scared. But then, I got to thinking, this is only my PT job (I only kept for the insurance – in which now is the downside in that I will have to purchase), and I have actually wanted to quit for many years. So, I feel, that this is actually a blessing in disguise! It is going to be so awesome to have weekends again. I’ll get to have a life (well, sort of, lol) again. And I’m hoping that this will help get me focused more on my writing. I will be gaining 10 or more hours back. Even though I will miss my co-workers dearly, I think this will help me focus on myself a little bit and put my needs first. One day may not seem like much to you, but to me, it really is a lifetime. For those of you with M-F 9-5 jobs, you wouldn’t understand; but to those that work weekends and holidays, you will get it.

Wish me luck in this new adventure called life 🙂

When one door closes, another one opens!

It’s Friday

Hope you all have a fabulous Friday and a great weekend.

Keeping this short, I’ll have a long one for you tomorrow night.
