Introduction to Blogtober

I am committing myself to blogging everyday in October.

These blogs will be related to all things Halloween; in the horror genre; and things that are thrilling, suspenseful, frightening, gruesome, spine chilling, etc etc etc.

They will contain 2 parts.

1. The first part will be my favorite things. They will range from movies, actors, directors, series, characters, places, books, and even items.

2. The second part will be a movie from my Must Watch Halloween Movie List. (I saw a list on FB the other week, and I will be changing it up a little bit). They will be in no particular order.

Growing up, Halloween was always my favorite holiday. It wasn’t all about the candy. I always had a blast carving pumpkins, decorating, dressing up, and getting my butt scared. The best part of trick or treating to me was getting to see people’s houses decorated and getting freaked out.

October is just a little over and hour away.

Let’s get our spook on!

Where Has September Gone? / October Goals 2014

Where the heck has September gone to? Feels like the month just started!!

I just updated my Book List for 2014 and am at 48 books for the year. My first goal was to read 50 books (I will succeed!) and the second goal is 100 books (I may fall short on that one). I’m not a fast reader, and when I try to read fast, I feel like I miss a lot of the book. But it is funny how some books I can read in mere days, while others take me weeks.

Alright, let’s check on how I did for my September Goals:

  • Setting up a “school” schedule. What this basically means is that I want to set up times for everything that I want to get done (setting up certain times for writing, reading, watching tv, cleaning, etc). More or less, just getting more organized. / 🙂 & 😦
  • Read 10 books! / 😦 But I got 7!
  • Cut back on the youtube watching (I have become addicted. ADDICTED!!!) / 🙂
  • Write everyday! This is a must! / 🙂
  • And, I am going to blog everyday! / 🙂 I’m giving me the smiley face cuz I was pretty damn close

So, how about some goals for October:

  • Blog everyday – Blogtober is here!!
  • Pick one writing project and complete it. This is a must! – I have too many I am trying to work on, and am not accomplishing anything.

YOU by Caroline Kepnes

YOU by Caroline Kepnes is my #1 book pick for the Fall!!

I loaned my copy out so I couldn’t take a picture of it, but I am absolutely in love with this cover. The above image is the majority of it.

This isn’t necessarily a book review (like before, I said I don’t do those) but I highly recommend it! HIGHLY!!

YOU comes out next Tuesday (September 30th). It is published by my favorite (aka the best in the business) Emily Bestler Books / Atria / Simon & Schuster. I was lucky enough to receive a copy, but I will still be purchasing a copy (already pre-ordered it) because that is how I roll. It is a novel of dark obsession (it says so right on the cover). It’s an amazing thriller. Very unique. And I couldn’t put it down. Since the promotion of it months ago, I’ve been really excited for YOU. And I am now a Caroline Kepnes fan.

Here’s the blurb for the book:

Love hurts…

When aspiring writer Guinevere Beck strides into the East Village bookstore where Joe works, he’s instantly smitten. Beck is everything Joe has ever wanted: She’s gorgeous, tough, razor-smart, and as sexy as his wildest dreams.

Beck doesn’t know it yet, but she’s perfect for him, and soon she can’t resist her feelings for a guy who seems custom made for her. But there’s more to Joe than Beck realizes, and much more to Beck than her oh-so-perfect façade. Their mutual obsession quickly spirals into a whirlwind of deadly consequences . . .

A chilling account of unrelenting passion, Caroline Kepnes’s You is a perversely romantic thriller that’s more dangerously clever than any you’ve read before.

While it’s not a secret that I’m into anything writer, bookstore, or library related (in books and movies); the fact that Joe is a bookstore owner is a big reason that drew me to YOU, and that fabulous cover. But, from the very first lines, this book is written so differently from anything else that I have read, and I loved it!

Even though Joe is….well Joe (when you read it you’ll understand what I mean). I am drawn to him. He has a hold on me. I want to be his best friend. I want to be his lover. I know I should think one way of him, yet, I thin another. I relate to him (not is all aspects, of course). And I am #TeamJoe.

So, if you plan on reading one book this fall, make it YOU. YOU won’t regret it.

Here are some places you can stalk….I mean FOLLOW Caroline:

The Leaves are a Changin’

Sorry I’ve been MIA for a few days, but, Fall is finally and officially here. Yay!!

The leaves are changing. So beautiful. I love the ones that turn to that intense orange and red.

My favorite season! Beautiful leaves. Chill in the fresh, clean, and crisp air. Sweatshirt weather. It’s the best.

I haven’t been doing well with getting my priorities in the right order, but that’s life.

I may have mentioned before, but I am planning some fun and exciting blogs to come. I have a new notebook dedicated just for blog ideas. I’m really excited for a few of them to share with you.

I really wanted to keep up with blogging every day this month, but it just didn’t work out. I don’t want to blog just to blog, and lately I’ve been feeling a bit run down, had a sick dog over the weekend, and had a few things that needed to get done (aka prepping for winter). So instead of just posting something stupid, I decided to just skip those days.

Just a lil thursday night check in

Don’t have much to say. It’s pretty much SSDD.

Yesterday, I ended my night with a migraine. HATE those. Luckily, I don’t get them too often.

Today, was a stressful day at work. HATE those too. I want to be productive and get some writing in, yet I want to sit here and do nothing. Not sure which will win just yet. But, I will gladly accept either.

I’ve decided to call blogging in October, Blogtober. I am really excited for it. Think it’s going to be pretty fun. And a little different.

I have also decided that for my Christmas cards this year, I am going to paint my own. Think it will be really fun. A good way to get my creativeness going. I have wanted to get back to painting for awhile, but it’s been a couple years now. It’ll be a great way to relax. And I have the perfect time to do it, the beginning of November. I will be getting a lot of peace and quiet time for almost 2 weeks. It will likely be time consuming, but I have all my ideas picked out on what I am going to paint, and the saying for inside the cards. So, the prep work is pretty much done. Just need to make my list of who I’ll be sending them to.

So glad tomorrow is Friday. It is so weird how I get to be excited about Fridays again, it’s a little bizarre.

Blogging in October

So, I’ve decided that I am going to continue the daily blogging into October as well – Shall I call it Blogoween? or maybe Blogtober? I was initially going to go with Blogoween, and I just came up with the Blogtober, and I am kind of liking that one better.

Instead of the random blogs throughout the month, I am going to be blogging all things Halloween, Horror, and Scary. It will range from movies to books to music, among other creepy things.

Today was a pretty long day. And before I knew it, it was already 11 pm. I’ve been thinking about which book I want to tackle next, but decided I should try to get through more of or finish “Babbitt” first.

So, I am going to power off and try to get a little writing in before I head off to bed.

Goodnight, my friends

Cleaned My Computer Desk and It Feels So Good

My computer desk had become a big ol’ space of clutter.

It took me awhile to clean it (a couple hours) because I couldn’t figure out how I wanted to do it with the limited space I have, so I would arrange it one way, then decide to rearrange it, and then that wouldn’t look right, so I would change things again.

But I got it all figured out, and it doesn’t look too bad.

I hope, now I will start to use my desktop more. I got it many years ago back on an impulse Black Friday deal, because I needed a new computer anyways. The thing has always had “freezing” episodes ever since I got it. I have MS Office, but have been reluctant to put it in (because of the freezing issues).

This week, I plan on turning it on (haven’t turned it on in months….MONTHS) and get Windows all updated, and give it a good ol’ scan and defragging, and see what it does. Maybe I’ll type in Word for a bit to see how it reacts. There really isn’t anything important on it, and since I have fallen in love with my MacBookPro I got last BF, I may look into getting a Mac. I’m not sure. They are so expensive. Maybe there will be some deals this BF/Cyber Monday. We will see….

Because I think sitting and actually using my desktop will increase my input and activity of writing.

Do you have a specific place you write? And office? Do you write at a desk?

Happy 100

This is my 100th blog!!!

Unbelievable!! Like twitter, I’m not sure if this is really a good thing or a bad thing, but I accept the milestone, and I will celebrate it. I never imagined that I could possibly have blogged 100 times already when I just started this blog back in Feb.

For those following, THANK YOU!!! I hope I haven’t bored you to death. Thanks for following me along this journey (even though I still haven’t really written much about my own writing, I’m working on it) and I am excited for what’s ahead.

To the next 100 🙂

You know I had to do that, right?

It’s been a pretty good week for getting things organized.

I’ve been getting some great writing in this week as well, and it looks to be a great and productive weekend.

It seems like whenever I’m hot on a project, that is when all the ideas come to me. I try to just write them down and put them away, but my mind continually wanders back to them. Sometimes, it can get frustrating. I can work on several projects at the same time, but it makes it a little hard when I am also reading multiple books at the same time as well.

I’m excited for what 2015 holds….
