HALLOWEEN MUST WATCH MOVIES:
Casper & Tower of Terror
I grew up watching the Casper & Friends cartoons, so, of course I would fall in love with the movie. It’s a good old time with ghosts, a big house (which Iw anted to live in) and treasure. Starring Christina Ricci, one of my fave actresses.
And, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is one of my favorite rites down in Disney World, so I was ecstatic when they made a movie based on the ride. It’s absolutely perfect, and stars Kirsten Dunst, who is another of my favorite actresses. I wish the hotel was a real one…
They are both fun, and not really scary, but give off a good vibe for Halloween fun!
Casper (1995): “Ghost therapist” Dr. James Harvey and his daughter Kat arrive at drafty, old Whipstaff Manor. Its greedy owner, Carrigan Crittendon, has hired Dr. Harvey to exorcise the house’s apparitions: friendly but lonely ghost named Casper, who’s just looking for a friend, and his outrageous uncles Stretch, Stinkie and Fatso (The Ghostly Trio). If the plan works, she and Dibs, her partner-in-slime, can get their hands on the manor’s fabled treasure. Meanwhile, Casper has found a kindred spirit in Kat, but The Ghastly Trio will not tolerate “fleshes” in their house.
Disney’s Tower of Terror (1997): Buzzy Crocker is a hard-luck photojournalist whose unexpected encounter with an old woman leads him to investigate an unexplained, decades-old disappearance. It seems that one Halloween night, many years ago, five partygoers vanished in the elevator of the Hollywood Tower Hotel…and ever since, their ghosts have remained trapped inside the dilapidated old building! In an action-filled story that delivers creepy fun for everyone, Buzzy ultimately teams with his niece to solve the mystery while managing to save their lives and capture the biggest story of the year!
