Warning Order | Thursday Reads

“Warning Order” by Joshua Hood

INTENSE!

This book is intense!

“Warning Order” is the sequel to last year’s smashing debut “Clear By Fire”. I was lucky enough to receive an ARC (it will be published on June 7th, 2016), and I could not put this book down. The first 20 chapters are all action. And Josh makes you feel like you are right smack in the middle of it. It’s like you are watching a movie, rather than reading a book. I admit, it took me like a week to read (due to having that cold from hell) and I know if I wasn’t sick, I would have finished it in 2-3 days.

Like I have mentioned before, it was hard for me to believe that CBF was Josh’s debut novel, it was that good. Well, WO is even better. Josh is definitely going to have a nice long career ahead of him. And he’s a great guy to boot! Really nice & genuine and really cares about his fans.

If you are a Flynn/Thor/Taylor/etc fan, you need to definitely check out Josh. Even though he is in the same genre, Kane is very different from Rapp/Harvath/Logan/etc. What I love most about this genre is how the main characters are all different, the stories are different, the feels are different; when compared to other genres.

My only problem is, I don’t know which character I like more: Mason Kane or Renee Hart?!?!

Speaking of favorite characters: while no one will ever top Mitch Rapp (for favorite character & favorite male character), I have moved Renee to the top on the female side (above Jessica Fletcher and Irene Kennedy), which is saying a lot.

So, do yourself a favor, and go pre-order “Warning Order” today, and check out “Clear By Fire” if you haven’t yet. You won’t regret it. (Links below)

American Assassin is a go … Again

Well, it looks like the “American Assassin” movie is a go … AGAIN!

The Hollywood Reporter announced a director today. You can read the full report here.

While this is very exciting news, it leaves me with the “been there, done that” feeling. This movie, that CBS Films at the moment owns the rights to, was supposedly going to start shooting in the fall of 2013. It seems, after Vince’s passing, everything stopped and nothing was being done. Ask for an update, none were ever given. So, CBS Films had until the end of this April to get things moving, or the rights would have returned to the Flynn Estate. Well, it looks like they decided to proceed in making the movie.

So, while I AM excited for Mitch Rapp to finally being on the big screen, I am unfortunately not jumping for joy.

“Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.” – Robert Louis Stevenson

I think this quote is an important one, especially when you are trying to reach your dreams and goals.

You cannot accomplish a project in one day, it takes time. But it is important to remember to work on it daily, every chance that you get. You can’t cross the finish line without doing the race.

These are definitely words that I need to remind myself daily.

Genesis | Bible Study Sundays

Disclaimer: I’m Roman Catholic. I’m not the most religious person out there. I have many questions about my religion, faith, and spirituality. I do believe in God. But I have always had many questions, and to be honest, have many confusions, even though I have gone to religion classes as a kid (truthfully, I never paid attention too much, since it was a requirement and not really a choice). Am I thankful I did have them and have been confirmed? Yes, of course.

I am glad that I’ve decided to take the time to finally read through the Bible. Something I’ve always wanted to do but never took the time. I’m hoping this will help open my eyes, and even answer many of the questions that linger in my head.

So this past week, I’ve finished the The Book of Genesis. I have a side-by-side Bible (In which I mentioned before) that includes the following 4 versions: New International Version, King James Version, New American Standard Bible, and the Amplified Bible. At first I started out reading each version, but it became a bit too redundant, so I decided to stick with the NIV.

My favorite verse: And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. (Gen. 1:3)

Hidden Bodies | Thursday Reads

“Hidden Bodies” by Caroline Kepnes

For my first Thursday Reads book, I chose a character that I LOVE, that I probably should’t, but I do. His name is Joe Goldberg.

“Hidden Bodies” is the sequel to Caroline’s 2014 smash hit “YOU”.

Joe runs a bookstore. Joe is a stalker. What else is Joe? You have to read “YOU” to find out. He might be the bad guy, but I am rooting for him.

In “Hidden Bodies” we find Joe making changes. For the good? Maybe. YOU’ll just have to read it to find out.

I was very fortunate enough to receive an ARC. “Hidden Bodies” will be published on February 23, 2016. And I HIGHLY recommend it.

“When one door closes another opens” Chinese Proverb

This quote is pretty self-explanatory and can be used in many different situations to apply to your own life.

Whenever life or something has got you down, just remember, there is always another path or direction to help you get pass it or help you to move on.

Another way may not always be the easiest, but, it is there for you to take.

2 plus 2 equals 4. But, so does 3 plus 1. Different journeys to result in the same outcome.

So, keep your head up high, and keep on truckin’ along

Cold From Hell

I apologize for being MIA this past week, but I’ve been dealing with not only a cold from hell, but longer work days. I pretty much would come home, eat supper, take a shower, watch a Youtube video (currently watching CaptainSparklez2 Sky Factory Playlist) to “come down” from the day and go to bed by 9/10pm. It isn’t the worst cold I have ever had, but it ranked up there. Really sucked to have it start over New Years weekend, but then again, it was good to at least have those few days to actually rest and relax and sleep. I’m finding that I am getting sick more times now than I did when I was younger. Not sure why. 😦

So, I hope to get back on track this week with my blogs.

Here’s to a wonderful week!

“Keep The Faith” – Vince Flynn

You’ve probably seen me use this one before. It’s one that the late author Vince Flynn used quite often, especially during his battle with prostate cancer.

What I like best about this one, is, you can apply it to however you need to in your own life. Even though it may come from a religious background, you definitely don’t need to be a religious person to use it.

Along our journey in this life, keep these 3 little words close to your heart. Let them help guide you, especially during difficult times.

Keep The Faith, that God will be there for us and our families. Trust in God’s plan.

Keep The Faith, in yourself! You can do it. You are strong enough. There is only one YOU in this life, and that’s a beautiful thing. Embrace your uniqueness. No one is better than you. We are all equals. Surround yourself with people that make you the happiest.

When the times seem dark, Keep The Faith, that there is light. If you believe it, there it will be.

I encourage you to try adding these words in your life, not only in bad times, but the good times as well.

Keep The Faith 🙂
Stacy

2016!

2016!

The new year is here! Happy New Year everyone!!!!!

I’m not really into making resolutions, because of all that I have ever made over the last damn near 30 years, I have never kept. I start out good and strong, then life happens, and, you know.

So, I’m not really making any resolutions for 2016, but maybe, rather, perhaps, some goals. There are many things that I have wanted to accomplish these past few years, that I haven’t. And I feel that the time is now.

One big thing in the new year, I want to try to bring some structure and routine to my blog.

Last summer, I remember that I worked on making up some categories and then I didn’t do anything with them. So, the last couple weeks, I’ve been revisiting these thoughts, and figured what better time than the new year.

I am working on changing my schedule and actually creating one by blocking off time for things (for example: 1 hour for pleasure reading, 1 hour for Bible reading, 1 hour or episode(s) of tv, 1 hour or MORE for writing) after getting home from work. I want to work on my writing, but I will still need to make some downtime and relax time to wind down from my work day. But, if I ever want to be an author, I need to finish a project. And this coming year has been presented with many challenges ahead that will definitely be causing a significant amount of stress in my life. And there will be nothing to change that. And, I had a certain plan for 2015, but it certainly didn’t pan out, and I am out of really pissed at myself for it. But, the past is in the past, and instead of sulking about it, I am moving on and moving ahead. I say this every year, but, this year, 2016, THIS IS GOING TO BE MY YEAR!

This past week I haven’t used my Erin Condren Life Planner much, simply because I haven’t made the labels that I want to use for it. Project for this weekend. and I actually ended up finding a planner (an At-A-Glance hourly one) that goes form 12am to 11pm daily. Perfect. Each page is split in half, and has the day hour slots on one half and a notes section for the other half. Double perfect. And today is the day to start it. I specifically want to use it to track my writing and the notes half will be good for extra ideas that pop into my head, or things I need to research, or anything.

So, for a blog structure, this is what I have planned. I hope to do it weekly, but I am not going to “force” myself to do it. I’m not going to just do a blog to do a blog. I want to have some meat & potatoesness to it. And I simply just want to be more active on my blog, because it brings me joy and is a good thing to help me relax.

Motivational Mondays: here I plan to post inspirational/motivational quotes/sayings.

Writing Wednesdays: updates on my writing. I’ve been very slack on my writing and the time for a change is now. And I want to bring back this blog to what I intended its purpose to be, to keep me on track and compliant to my goals.

Thursday Reads: here I will post either what I am currently reading, or what I have recently finished. And I will likely push book/author recommendations to this day as well.

Favorite Fridays: just posting on my favorite things. This will likely be a collection of randomness from books, authors, food, products, anything.

Bible Study Sundays: I have never read through the entire Bible, and have always wanted to. A few years back I actually purchased this huge Bible that is side-by-side and has the NIV (New International Version), KJV (King James Version), NASB (New American Standard Bible), and the AMP (Amplified Bible). Not sure what I will be posting for these days, it could be a verse I liked, or my interpretation of a passage. I am Catholic, but I am not the most religious person out there. But I am very excited to begin this journey.

I’m not going to go into my goals for 2016, except for the writing one. I want to finish 1 book. I want to finish 2 books. I want to finish 5 books. I need to put in the time and effort. They won’t write themselves. I am not going to let all the fears keep me from writing. There are things that I feel are holding me back, but they are things that I don’t need to worry about at this time.

So, with that, I wish everyone a very Happy, Healthy, and Successful 2016. This year is ALL of ours!!!! If we fall, we will get right back up! Let’s do this!
