in a dark, dark wood | Thursday Reads

“in a dark, dark wood” by Ruth Ware

For this Thursday Reads, I am recommending “in a dark, dark wood” by British author Ruth Ware.

In her debut novel, we find Leonora (aka Lee, aka Nora), who is a reclusive writer, invited to the hen (bachelorette) party/weekend for a friend with whom she hasn’t spoken to in years. The fun-filled weekend is to take place at glass house in the middle of the woods. When she arrives, it is anything but a fun-filled weekend. And then, 48 hours later, she awakens and finds herself in a hospital and not being able to remember all of the events that have taken place that weekend, but with the knowledge of someone dying. Can she get her memory back to solve the events of how and why this person died?

This book is right up my alley, it involves a writer (I love all books/movies that involve a writer), a glass house (which is just too damn eerie), and the woods (hey, what’s spookier than the woods?).
