I Am Pilgrim | Thursday Reads

“I Am Pilgrim” by Terry Hayes

iampilgrim

I believe that I have mentioned this book in my blog in the past, but since I recently started Thursday Reads, I knew I had to share this one. This book came out back on May 27, 2014. I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this and got the chance to read it earlier than that. And it blew me away. This one is on my To Be Re-Read pile.

Despite it being 700 pages, it is a quick read. I had troubles putting it down. And when I wasn’t reading, I was constantly thinking about it. And there were many times were I found myself rooting for the bad guy (seriously!).

The blurb:

A breakneck race against time…and an implacable enemy.

An anonymous young woman murdered in a run-down hotel, all identifying characteristics dissolved by acid.

A father publicly beheaded in the blistering heat of a Saudi Arabian public square.

A notorious Syrian biotech expert found eyeless in a Damascus junkyard.

Smoldering human remains on a remote mountainside in Afghanistan.

A flawless plot to commit an appalling crime against humanity.

One path links them all, and only one man can make the journey.

Pilgrim.

Many events interweave in this ultimate game of cat and mouse, in which one man, Pilgrim, needs to solve in order to save the United States.

This is THE book!

Some new thrillers released today

Some new books came out today:

Brad Taylor’s Days of Rage

Daniel Silva’s The Heist

Just thought I’d let you know, in case you didn’t 🙂

And don’t forget to check out:

Brad Thor’s Act of War (the next Scot Harvath thriller)

Terry Hayes’ I Am Pilgrim

Jamie McGuire’s Beautiful Oblivion

And any Vince Flynn novel!!

The Shawshank Redemption, Brad Thor, I Am Pilgrim

Are there any movies, when on tv, you just have to watch them? I have several, but one of my faves is definitely “The Shawshank Redemption”. And guess what? I’m watching it right now! Even though this movie came out in 1994, I recently discovered it just a few years ago. And boy, I have been missing out. Late to the party (as usual).

Brad Thor‘s newest release “Act of War” is due out on July 8th. You can pre-order that at Amazon here. His book tour dates have been released, check them out here. I’m hoping to catch him at the Minneapolis one! I highly recommend the Scot Harvath series. Especially if you are a huge Vince Flynn fan like me. Also, if you’re on twitter, you should definitely follow Mr. Thor at @BradThor.

And a friendly reminder that Terry Hayes’ “I Am Pilgrim” will be out 15 days from now, on May 27th. You can pre-order it on Amazon here.

Another week gone by…

Well, the week is almost over.

Meant to blog the other day when I received the rhyming dictionary I ordered. I haven’t officially used it yet, but am absolutely in love with it. And looks like it will be very easy for me to use. Can’t wait to get working on lines that I’ve written and getting them to rhyme. I was organizing and consolidating my notes, and became very overwhelmed and wanted to just give up. But I made it work, and cleaned it up. Hoping to get some more work done tomorrow night after work.

In the next coming weeks, I hope to make many blog posts on the progresses of my writing (since this was the main reason to starting a blog).

Have a GREAT weekend!! 🙂

P.S. “I Am Pilgrim” by Terry Hayes countdown is 18 days.

P.P.S. One of my favorite authors, Jess Lourey, is taking a year off from teaching to become a full time writer (I am so so excited for her and about this). She has decided to restart up her blog and share her journey. Check it out! And you should check out her Murder-by-Month series as well. It’s killer!

Today, has been a good day

Today, while at work, I was not only able to start reading a new book (at lunch time), but was able to get some writing in as well (in the afternoon between appointments). It wasn’t much, but it made me feel productive as hell.

Reading helps me with my own writing. It’s funny how a phrase or a scene, even just a word, will spark my imagination.

As for the evening, I haven’t been as productive. Got some reading in. Trolled twitter and Facebook and instagram. Watched some videos on youtube. And am now watching Murder She Wrote (on tv, and yes, I know I should be watching my dads instead) while I am blogging. Got to keep working on my goals for the month.

Tomorrow, that rhyming dictionary I ordered is set to arrive. I will let you know how I like it and if it will seem useful for me. I really can’t wait to get my hands on it.

P.S. 21 days until “I Am Pilgrim” by Terry Hayes

I AM PILGRIM

I Am Pilgrim by Terry Hayes

Today, I want to discuss a book that I’m very excited about its release in May. I’m not really going to do a “book review” because I feel I have very poor reviewing skills. I cannot translate what I feel. The words do not come to me. But I want, I need, to share my excitement over this book.

In fact, I haven’t been this excited for a book to be released sine The Last Man by Vince Flynn. And I honestly thought I never would since Flynn’s passing.

Last summer, I had the pleasure of reading I Am Pilgrim by Terry Hayes. Terry Hayes is new to the book world, but isn’t new to writing. You can find more about him here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terry_HayesPilgrim was previously released overseas, but is making is US debut May 27th.

This book is epic. I say it is epic because it is 700 pages. Now, I know you may be thinking, SEVEN HUNDRED pages, but let me tell you, do not let the size of this book scare you. It’s a fast and wild ride. An amazing game of cat and mouse. The security and safety of the United States of America rests on one man, Pilgrim, to track down one man. This book is filled with twists and turns and interweaving mysteries and murders. Even after 700 pages, it leaves you wanting more.

I will admit, at first I was intimidated at the size, but I was captivated from the very beginning. As it took me a couple weeks to read, I found it hard to put down (but at 2 am, I needed to get some sleep). When I wasn’t reading I Am Pilgrim, I was constantly thinking about it. Heck, I was even dreaming about it.

Do yourself a favor, preorder I Am Pilgrim by Terry Hayes. I have. You can find it on Amazon here: http://www.amazon.com/I-Am-Pilgrim-A-Thriller/dp/1439177724/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1393454674&sr=8-1&keywords=i+am+pilgrim

This is the ultimate thriller.
